    A. Dead band – is the range through which an input can be varied without initiating a response in the manipulated variable of a controller in the process control.

    B. Process variable – a condition of the physical process fluid (or gas) that can change the manufacturing process in some way. in the event of one sitting near a fire place, the process variable is the temperature.

    C. lag time – is the amount of time after the dead time that the process variable takes to move 63.3% of its final value after a step change in valve position
