    • Water fire extinguishers are used on Class A fires, which are fires involving ordinary combustibles such as wood, paper, and cloth.
    • Dry chemical fire extinguishers are used on Class B and C fires, which are fires involving flammable liquids and gases.
    • Carbon dioxide (CO2) fire extinguishers are used on Class B and C fires, as well as on Class E fires, which are fires involving electrical equipment.
    • Foam fire extinguishers are used on Class A and B fires.
