    2. Another use of X-rays in medicine is to treat certain medical conditions, such as cancer. In this case, a high-energy beam of X-rays is directed at the tumor or cancerous tissue, with the aim of damaging the DNA of the cancer cells and killing them. This type of treatment is called “radiotherapy” or “radiation therapy.” It can be used to shrink or destroy tumors, or to control the growth of cancer cells.
