i) National Environment Management Authority (NEMA): The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) is responsible for protecting and conserving the environment in Kenya. Some of the roles of NEMA in the construction industry include:

• Setting environmental standards and guidelines for the construction industry
• Monitoring and enforcing compliance with environmental regulations in the construction industry
• Conducting environmental impact assessments (EIAs) for proposed construction projects
• Providing guidance and support to the construction industry on environmental matters

ii) National Construction Authority (NCA): The National Construction Authority (NCA) is responsible for regulating and promoting the construction industry in Kenya. Some of the roles of the NCA in the construction industry include:

• Setting standards and guidelines for the construction industry
• Registering and licensing construction professionals and firms
• Providing training and professional development opportunities for construction professionals
• Facilitating the resolution of disputes in the construction industry
• Promoting the use of modern and innovative construction technologies and practices
