There are several safety precautions that should be taken when using electric energy to ensure that you are protected from electric shock and other hazards:

1. Use caution when working with electrical outlets and wiring. Never touch a live electrical wire with your bare hands, and be sure to use proper protective equipment, such as gloves and eye protection, when working with electrical systems.
2. Be sure to use the correct type and size of electrical cord for the device you are using. Overloading an electrical cord can cause it to overheat and potentially start a fire.
3. Avoid using damaged electrical cords or outlets. If you notice any fraying, exposed wires, or other signs of damage, do not use the cord or outlet until it has been repaired or replaced.
4. Keep electrical appliances and devices away from water. Water and electricity do not mix, and coming into contact with water while using an electrical device can be extremely dangerous.
5. Use caution when using electrical appliances near flammable materials. Keep a safe distance between electrical appliances and items such as curtains, paper, or other flammable materials.
