In communication, encoding refers to the process of converting a message or information into a form that can be transmitted to others. This involves translating the message into a specific medium, such as written words, spoken words, or visual images.
Encoding involves selecting and arranging the symbols or codes that will be used to represent the message. For example, when writing a message, the sender must decide which words and phrases to use to convey their intended meaning. When speaking, the sender must decide how to use their voice, tone, and body language to convey their message.
The effectiveness of encoding depends on the sender’s ability to clearly and accurately represent their message, as well as the recipient’s ability to decode the message and understand its meaning.
