(i) Firmware is software that is permanently stored on a hardware device, such as a computer, router, or printer. Firmware controls the low-level functions of the device and is responsible for booting the device and making it ready for use. Firmware is typically stored in a special type of memory that is not erasable or overwritable, such as ROM or EPROM.
(ii) An operating system (OS) is a software program that manages the hardware and software resources of a computer. The operating system is responsible for controlling the computer’s memory, processing power, and input/output devices, and it allows other software programs to run on the computer. Some examples of popular operating systems include Microsoft Windows, macOS, and Linux.
